As the year ends, a lot of people take time to reflect on all that's happened in the past twelve months. They think of the good, the bad, the happy, the sad, etc. And they plan for better things in the new year. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how far I've come in the past two and (almost) a half months.
First, how did Glitter, Gloss, and Glaze come to be? Well, I'd been watching a lot of beauty vloggers on YouTube (especially Hayley7363 and PinkHoneyBeee--love those girls:) and had been reading some blogs (mostly The Polish-Aholic) and I couldn't help but think, I could do that. I'm constantly trying new products and sharing what I think with my friends, so why not share with the world?
So there was that. Then, I was always doing fun stuff to my nails and posting them on my personal Facebook where I'd get mixed reviews--the friends that really enjoyed it and the friends who were probably about to block me 'cause they were so sick of seeing my fingers! A blog seemed like the perfect place to share my nail art with--with people who actually wanted to see it:)
So why a written blog instead of a YouTube channel? (which, P.S. I do have one, I just have no videos on it yet; I'm working up to that:) I have always, always, always loved writing! When I was younger, I was always writing short stories and poems; journaling alllll the time. It's all I wanted to do when I grew up. So blogging helps me feel like a writer without all the finding-a-publisher-drama. lol.
And that, my friends, is how this blog came to be. Obviously, it's still growing. I'm not one of those beauty bloggers that has 18 million followers, and I may never be (I think if I can get over 200, I'll feel very accomplished;) and I know that will take time. I'm just so excited with all the friends I've already made because of this! Thanks to Twitter, I've found other girls to follow and girls who seem to be like me (which I've found in real life is sometimes easier said than done;)! I've gotten lots of beauty tips, seen lots of fun nail art, read lots of reviews, and I'm looking for more and more in 2012!
In case you missed the post on Twitter, I now have a Facebook page! The goal is to really get the word out there and share with the world:) I was out shopping today and saw a girl that had really cute holiday nails; I wanted so badly to tell her, "Hey, you should visit my blog!" but I didn't 'cause that sounded silly. I'm thinking though of getting business cards that have my blog on it so that maybe others will see what Glitter, Gloss, and Glaze is all about:)
Thanks so much for reading my blog and tweeting me! I'm so excited you're all along for this new adventure of mine:)
xoxo,
Great post! I think you should get business cards. I'm not by any means a graphic designer but I do enjoy making things like that if you want. :)
ReplyDeleteOh got to get some coffee once the Holiday hype dies down a bit. lol
Aww, thanks, Lydia! I have some I've been looking at on Vistaprint, but I'm open to ideas:)
