Revlon Lip Butter Review...

By now, you've probably read at least one review or heard at least one person talking about Revlon Lip Butters... I'd seen several reviews, and most girls seemed to be absolutely raving about the product! Picking them up in numbers of seven, twelve, etc. I jumped on the bandwagon and figured, omg, I must need to try this!!

I was at Target last weekend picking up stuff for my giveaway (which, ps ends TONIGHT, so enter while you still can!) and decided I NEEDED to try one of these. The selection was getting smaller... mostly one of each color and a few colors missing... (this increased my opinion that they must be the BEST THINGS EVER since they were ALMOST SOLD OUT.) Hmm.

I bought Strawberry Shortcake. It's a soft, almost coral'ish kinda color and thought it would look pretty good in an every day look. I decided if I was going to do a fair review, I had to use it exclusively or else other products on my lips may sway what I think of the color/texture/lasting wear, etc. And that, my friends, is the ONLY lip product I've been using allll week (until last night:)

Let me tell you, the packaging is AMAZING. It really makes it almost worth the $8 simply because of how pretty it looks! The color, the texture, the size, everything about the outside of it is pretty! The color itself is also very nice. It's a little pinkier than a baby pink, but not TOO pink (honestly, could anything ever be TOO pink?)

I was surprised by the feel of it on my lips. I honestly don't even know how to explain it... not quite a gloss... or a stick.. or even a balm... it was kinda like a lipstick that had been sitting in the car for a few minutes on a hot summer day, if that makes sense. Softer and almost melted a bit. Which is good for application, it smooths on very nicely. It really is kind of like butter.

I was hoping it would smell like strawberries or have a light strawberry taste or anything.. it doesn't... there's just... nothing.

It stays on just okay. Made a mess on every coffee cup, can, glass I drank out of :( and I had to reapply every few hours.

Overall, I'm happy I tried it so I can say I tried it. And I'll definitely still use it sometimes; but it's not good enough to make it into my every day wear routine, and I won't be buying any more.

So what do you think? Have you tried them? Do you think they're hyped up way more than what they really are? Or are you one of the girls that has them in every color and have no idea what you did before they existed?? :)

Review: Hard Candy Plumping Serum

I may have mentioned a time or two before about how much I heart Hard Candy makeup products. I don't think I've tried something of theirs that I don't like! Since I love, love, love their Glossaholic lip gloss, when I saw they had out a "volumizing" lip gloss, I just had to have it.

If I were to compare my lips to a famous person's, I'd say they're kind of like Kirsten Dunst's. Very thin; especially when I smile. I have been drawn to anything that promises to "plump" my lips. (This is one time.. probably the ONLY time when the word "plump" has good connotations. hahaha)

So I picked this up at Walmart for about $6 in shade 419 amp. It's a soft pink color with small glitter/shimmer sparkle to it. As you know by the name of my blog, I love glitter glosses;) Hahaha.

I was expecting it to nearly burn as many of the ones I've used in the past have (I don't know all the science behind it, but apparently the burning makes lips bigger hahah) Anyway, this one surprisingly did not burn; it was more of a cool tingle, which I actually enjoy.

The applicator is the average size (not like the Glossaholic where you can get both lips done in one swipe). It does need reapplication every several hours, but that's more for the glossy/tingly feel. I've found that the color actually lasts pretty well... and while I notice little lip prints on my coffee cup, it doesn't all come off, most of it stays on my lips.

Are my lips volumized by this pluming serum? Eh, I don't have Angelina Jolie lips yet, but it's still an awesome product, and I'll definitely be picking it up in more colors soon:)

First Loves

So today is the 28th birthday of high school boyfriend! Happy Birthday to him!!! If he and I were still together the total amount of time would be... 11 years 9 months and a few days lol. Oh, how far we've come and changed over that amount of time. He really was my first love and will always hold a special place in my heart.

There are other "firsts" in my life that also will always hold a special place in my heart. I remember vividly my first *real* lipstick. It was by Bonne Bell "Lip Gear" and came in a grayish tube.. the shade was called "Honey" and it was a very soft, light brown. I loved it so much, I got another of the same brand just another color--that one was "Pink Lemonade" and as expected was a light pink color. Lipstick was the first makeup I was actually "allowed" to wear. And it was probably because it was so much like lipgloss (which I'd been using my entire life;) I've searched high and low for pictures of these first lipsticks and I can't find them anywhere! I did however see a multitude of other Bonne Bell products that were also very early products for me. I had the lip sheers lipstick (in "Wine Cooler" which was a deep burgundy wine color and another brown one I can't remember the name). All of my lipsticks back then were really matte and simple. :)

How about first nail polishes?? I can't remember exactly which ones were first, but my first three were a dark blue and a silver glitter from Wet 'n Wild and a hot pink I'd bought at Claire's. I used these polishes ALLLLL the time. My dad didn't really like the blue one 'cause it made me look trampy or something lol, but the glitter was totally okay and I wore it so much the bottle was almost empty!

Years have past and I don't have any of those firsts in my life any more, just the pictures and memories. But even though times have changed (and so have I) I still find myself enjoying some of those firsts--I still have a lot of Bonne Bell items in my makeup collection; most of my lipsticks are still pink and brown; and I now have multiple pinks, blues, and glitter polishes:) Maybe some things never really change...

What were some of your firsts? Do you ever find yourself reverting to the age old staples?

Hard Candy Glossaholic!!

Just got home a little while ago from a fabulous sushi date with a grand friend of mine! What a great time! There are few things in life better than yummy sushi and great conversation with people you like:) The funniest thing was she painted her nails before coming out with me because she was nervous about having ugly nails since I always do mine "so pretty" :) lol

Anyway, nothing super huge to report, but I wanted to share with you one of my all time favorite beauty products--Hard Candy's Glossaholic lip gloss! ($5 at Wal-mart) This stuff is amazing!!! I got my first one sometime around April, 2011. I started with the color "Gorgeous" and fell in love with everything about it! The applicator is HUGE it coats my entire lip in one swipe! The color is so soft but brilliant with all the different sparkles in it! There was a light, sweet, slightly vanilla taste. I NEEDED to have more of these!

So I got "Tipsy"... then "Fairy".... then the ones "infused with mood altering elixirs"...
And suddenly I had more than half the collection.

These glosses are like crack (okay, I've never done any drugs in my whole life; but it's how I imagine an addictive illegal substance would be;) I couldn't get enough of them! I loved them! I wanted them all!!

By far my MOST FAVORITE gloss of all time! They are comprised of every one of the favorite things listed in my blog title: there's GLITTER in them; they are GLOSSes, and they GLAZE my lips.

If you buy nothing else I recommend ever, please get this lip gloss. :)

Shopping is good for the soul!

I do believe in Heaven. And I do believe I'm going there. I know all the stories about the streets of gold and blah blah blah. But, in my heart, I know that my Heaven will be a lot like a DSW combined with ULTA. It will be bright and beautiful and full of shoes and beauty products! It will all be free!! There will also be donuts and endless supply of pumpkin spice lattes....

So I had a little piece of that Heaven since I went to ULTA tonight. There is just some feeling about walking in there... all the lights... the organization of it all... the products... It puts a smile on my face just thinking about it. I wasn't looking for anything specific, just kind of browsing, so I only picked up a few things.

The first thing was O.P.I. correct & clean up refillable corrector pen.  The front of the box says "The easy way to clean Nail Lacquer off cuticles for great-looking nails! Includes pen plus one replacement tip." I'm sure I will be using this product alllll the time since it seems I can't ever keep the polish just on my nail. I have not read any reviews yet, and I probably won't so my opinion won't be swayed when I try it. It seems a lot like a white-out pen. Looks like a spongey, brush type thing and the instructions to refill seem pretty easy. Put in new tip and refill with polish remover. So we'll see. I'm curious to see how long it lasts and how easy it is to use. ($6.95) note: Sally Hansen had a similar product. I may do a comparison of the two at a later point.

Next up was a new holographic polish by essence in 01 Gagalectric. Straight on it looks like a light lilac-y purple, but as you move it, the sparkle/holographic part changes to blue-ish, minty-green shades. I haven't done the color-changing-in-different-angles polish in years, and this one just caught my eye. This is my first polish by essence so I'm excited to try it. Plus, it was only $1.99 so even if it sucks, I'm not really out a whole lot. Obviously the picture just doesn't do it justice, but I'll get better ones when I use it.

Lastly, I can't leave ULTA without passing through the NYX lip color section. I love love love their soft matte lip cream--it's not a lip stick, it's not a gloss, it's just the right texture! I already own Addis Ababa and Milan so tonight I picked up London--a soft, light brown--almost like hot cocoa with melted marshmallows:) What I love most about these lip creams is that it goes on so smooth and the color really lasts! It feels good when it goes on--doesn't dry out my lips like a stick, but provides more coverage and not too drippy like some glosses. The Addis Ababa is hot pink, which with most of my makeup looks seems a bit much. But I really do love the color. The Milan is softer and prettier, but I'm not completely comfortable with how it blends (or rather, doesn't blend) with my skin tone. I have high hopes for London since it is almost getting cooler and fall colors are finally becoming more fashionably acceptable here in Florida. Will probably use it tomorrow and let you know what I think. ($5.99)

And that was all I got today! Total with tax $15.98! What a deal!! :)
